The Burnham PermitMapper is a new web application that allows users to easily get permit and construction details at specified locations in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles.
Features of the PermitMapper:
The biggest piece of the Burnham PermitMapper project was integrations.
The PermitMapper integrates three different government permit databases. This data is currently available but was difficult to sort through. The PermitMapper makes the information easily accessible and useful to individuals.
This tool shows Burnham’s strength in knowing all things permits. Additionally, the PermitMapper is a lead generation tool for Burnham. People are asked to give information such as their name and email to access the PermitMapper. There is also integration with the Burnham HubSpot site to track things like CTA clicks, form submissions and more.
Building the PermitMapper required significant geocoding work.
The data was inconsistent but the Duo team was able to present it in a way that was consistent for users consuming it. Designing a single user interface across data sources that were inconsistent was definitely the challenge here.
Because the PermitMapper is meant to be used on-site in many situations, this meant the site needed to be designed with mobile in mind. Wireframes and designs were thought of with mobile first.
