comScore, Inc.

comScore is a global leader in measuring the digital world, and the preferred source of digital marketing intelligence. Through a powerful combination of behavioral and survey insights, comScore enables clients to better understand, leverage and profit from the rapidly evolving worldwide web and mobile arena.

Problem

comScore’s original site was custom coded, the backend and design static and outdated. They wanted to overhaul the website, and in the process the company’s image. The goals for developing the site included:

• Redefine how comScore presented their information and incorporate development and design into their site wide rebranding effort.
• Bring the full breadth of products and services to greater prominence.
• Inform prospective clients not only of comScore’s mobile media or search marketing measurement services, but make it easy to discover what is offered in specific industries.

Solutions

Duo implemented top level navigation features solutions, organized by comScore’s targeted industries. In addition to this, Duo created a blog to aid in social networking and viral marketing. Specific improvements included:

• Consistent with Duo’s approach to phasing in functionality, the International Solutions section has top level navigation, and has plans to be developed further. To this end, the site, built on the eZ Publish platform which supports multi-lingual sites, is currently being translated into 5 languages.  The site has been pre-built to accommodate multiple languages, which can be implemented at a low cost. This positioned comScore globally, making their products and services available to an international audience.

• To support comScore’s positioning as a global leader, their existing WordPress blog was integrated into the site, and is supported by a team of insider bloggers. The blog encourages viral promotion of the posts, featuring a “Tweet this” button at the end of every post.  This button pre-populates the Tweet with a pre-written post.

• Salesforce forms were integrated and made available throughout the site, as was a contact form and search function, created with eZ Find.

• Working off of their new logo and image, Duo’s design team helped arrange the layout of their information, positioning it for maximum effect and easy access. Their previous, primarily blue tones were replaced with brighter colors, giving the site a fresh and modern appearance. Large amounts of content were separated by product type, and organized via multi-tiered landing pages. The CSS framework used allowed for flexibility and often-seamless integration of existing and new features.

Results

Throughout comScore’s development and design process, Duo was guided by a user-centered philosophy. The design team organized the product presentation around customer needs and not internal corporate structure, and the development team integrated content into this framework. Client training was provided, so that comScore was able to update the site utilizing their newly expanded options and functionality.

Since launch, comScore continues to expand and update their site. The self-sufficiency granted by Duo and eZ Publish gives them the power to maximize their site’s potential as a lead generator, content management system, and the face of the organization.

This site was built using eZ Publish, an open source content management system developed by eZ Systems. eZ Publish is available for free download under the GPL license, as well as under proprietary licenses with commercial support.
